How to Manage Overwhelm

Experiencing overwhelm and anxiety has become much more common, but how can we best cope with this when this comes up?

In learning how to manage overwhelm and anxiety often simple strategies work best. The following two are what I recommend most of all;

  1. Get out in to nature; whenever you feel overwhelmed or anxious just stepping out in to nature and taking a walk or just spending some peaceful time in a local park can really help you feel centred again.
  2. The power of one; break things down and focus on one thing at a time, this can really help ease the overwhelm and allow you to focus with much more clarity again. Once you have done that one thing Whether it be to go for a walk or do that first item on your to do list, you will find your momentum will return.

Coping with Stress

Coping with stress is something many of us have to manage on a daily basis, as we are thrown in to situations that can be challenging or difficult to cope with.

So what are some of the best ways of coping with stress.?

  1. Balance– having a good work/life balance is essential, make sure you get enough time for you.
  2. Exercise– stressful situations can create excess energy, which can then be discharged healthily and in a positive way through exercise. By doing this you are making these situations work to your benefit.
  3. Relaxation/Mediation– having a daily practice of relaxation and meditation can help you perform well under pressure, as having a calm mindstate that will come more naturally to you.

Explore other ways and options and find what way works best for you. Stress can work positively for us as well as negatively and it’s important to make it work for you. Following strategies that can make all the difference and ultimately put you in charge of the situation.

To your healthiest and best 🙏

What to do without the gym

How are you finding life in lockdown, Takes a bit of adjusting doesnt it? Hopefully most of you have managed to find a way to workout without the gym, and now the dates for re-opening have been announced we’ve not too much longer to wait. Here are a few tips just in case you are struggling,to keep you going until then.

1.) Workout first thing– Whatever exercise you’re going to do, try to do it first thing. Motivation is highest when we get straight in to it, otherwise other things can distract us and take over the day.

2.) Body weight training – This time can actually be a great opportunity to explore more bodyweight training. This can be as simple as push ups and sit ups and can be adapted to any level. Always warm up and cool-down, and with some simple exercises you can make an easy to follow workout for 20 mins, 3 times a week. This alone can make a lot of difference. For more advice please get in touch.

3.) Get outdoors – This time is also a great opportunity to get back in touch with nature and enjoy all it has to offer. So try to make the most of it while you have the time. Being more in touch with nature has natural calming and mood boosting effects, in addition to those we already get from exercise. This is something we could all do with right now and comes highly recommended.

If at all you are really struggling and need some more support and advice at this time, Then please do get in touch and we will be happy to support. Stay strong and stay healthy.
