Most are aware of the importance of core stability, however it can still often get neglected.
This post serves as a simple reminder of why to not neglect the core part of your training.
With regular core training all of the following elements will improve;
• Balance & overall stability
• Functional Movement & Control
• Back strength, particularly lower
• Ability to lift and carry safely & effectively
• Posture and co-ordinated movement
• Injury prevention
For all the above reasons it is essential to add a regular core training element to your exercise routine. It is something you can do daily for as little as 5-10 minutes and can build up to with a variety of different exercises.
In addition to this try to include a regular practice of engaging your core muscles in daily activities such a shopping or washing up. The more you do this the stronger and more automatically activated your core muscles will be.
Below is a short video of a good core activating exercise you can try.
When exercising regularly or even when not its important to learn to listen to our bodies.
Learning to know when your are training just enough and when you’ve gone too far and adapt your training accordingly.
Without doing this we can easily end up overtraining, when we become very enthusiastic or at the other extreme not doing enough and feeling fatigue from this.
Find your balance and always listen to your body, as this is constantly changing as we are on our journey.
The more you do this the easier it then becomes to pick up the signs of when you are going a little too far in over or under training.
Find your way, stay balanced & centred in your training 🙏
Finding balance in our lives is a constant re-adjustment. As we are always changing and life is always changing, how much we need to give or recieve in certain areas is always adjusting.
With this, our mindset has to readjust also and sometimes we may experience a lag. We may perceive that we need more than we do based on past experiences or give more than we need to for the same reason, or to strive for something that is not necessary for our lives.
In finding balance our bodies and minds are the best signal, if we are out of balance and giving too much in a certain area we will be certain to feel the symptoms, such as fatigue or stress and if left too long this can worsen.
The first step to finding or refinding our balance then is to listen to ourselves and the feedback our body is giving and then make the adjustments accordingly.
We may need to either reduce or increase certain activities to find our balance again.
Another helpful practice can be to sit down and reevaluate our goals and see what still fits with where we are now and where we want to be. As we grow and change our goals will naturally change and/or we can find a different path.
Lastly trust your inner self, your intuition above all, it will always guide you to what is right for you and the correct balance in your life.
