Exercise as Medicine

Often underrated exercise as medicine can be a powerful solution as well as deterrent to many common health problems, both in mind and body.

A regular exercise routibe can help to boost your mood, your confidence and your immune system, all of which can help prevent problems occuring or deteriorating within the mind and body.

This alone is reason to exercise and also a powerful motivator, rather than our external appearance. More important and a primary reason to exercise regularly is the health of your mind and body.

Therefore everytime you feel unsure of whether to exercise or not remind yourself of this powerful and important reason and you can guarantee you will always feel better for doing it.

Regular exercise doesn’t need to be excessive either, gentle exercise such as walking and light yoga/stretch sessions can be really helpful also.

Getting Started

Happy New Year to you all and wishing you all a great 2024!

Most of us at this time of year will be eagerly focused on our new year resolutions and goals.

This a great time for starting something new or restarting after the often indulgent Christmas and New Year period.

So what is the best way in getting started with your goals and ensuring you stay focused on what it is you want to achieve.

As we all may know having enthusiasm for something is a big part of getting started and keeping it going.

This is where having the mindset of getting started comes in to play and can be each day you are focused on this.

Always taking that approach of something new with the excitement and enthusiasm it brings, will help to keep that energy alive for as long as you need or want it to.

Ensuring you are maintaining the enjoyment and pace along the way.

Keep getting started each and every day with joy and love in all you do πŸ™πŸ’›πŸ’«

To Your Best Year Yet,

Peace & Kindness at Christmas

With Christmas approaching many of us are making plans and getting ready for the festive time.

While for many of us this is a time for joy and getting together. For some this may not be so.

With ongoing conflict in parts of the world, homelessness and other social difficulties, its important at this time, to also remember those who are struggling more.

To help bring peace and kindness at Christmas, however small a thing we can do, it can make a big difference to someone struggling.

This is just a small call and reminder to have a joyous time this Christmas, and also consider what we can do to help those who are struggling. Small acts of kindness are also acts of kindness to yourself. πŸ™

There is always something we can do, no matter how small πŸ™πŸ’•

Positive Focus

Becoming aware of our mindstates and taking charge of our focus, is a very important and helpful practice for our overall wellbeing.

Once we are our more aware of our mindstate and then able to consciously choose thought processes, we can direct our mind to a positive focus.

Our inner world can shape our outer world so once we have a more positive focus, it becomes far easier to have a more positive lifestyle.

Our choices are vital in directing where we want to go and adapting accordingly, and with a positive focus we will contue to make more positive choices and outcomes.

Leading to positive habits that stay. It all begins within.

Through the practice of deep looking, we can identify the positive seeds we want to water everyday. Even a few days of this can bring transformation. πŸ™

3 Steps to Finding Opportunities

Finding opportunities in our lives can help to keep life fun, exciting and engaging. Without the mindset of seeking opportunities, life may become dull and routine as we can become stuck in situations that do not satisfy our needs.

So what are some ways you can find the best opportunities and ensure they fit your needs and goals?

The following is a 3 step process to help you do so;

  1. Identify your needs, intentions and desired outcomes– it’s vital to be clear on these otherwise you may be pulled in to another’s way and goal or distracted in some other way.
  2. Be open minded and adaptable– once you have your outcomes in mind, it is important to be open minded because the way to your outcome may appear to you in various ways. Once you see an opportunity, if it feels right then follow it and be open to adapt as it may change along the way.
  3. Trust your intuition on the journey– as with all journeys things can change and adapt so part of finding opportunities is trusting your intuition. This will lead you to the right place and time when you need to adapt and discover something new.

As always, enjoy the journey, life’s an adventure, a discovery and with this mindset you’ll find many opportunities.

Towards Dreams

“Before a dream is realized, the soul of the world tests everything that was learned along the way.

It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream.

That’s the point at which most people give up. It’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.” – Unknown

Finding time to meditate

Finding time to meditate daily is essential for our inner peace and as we become more peaceful , we can help create more peace around us too and subsequently for the world.

In todays busy lifestyle, many find it difficult to find time to meditate for any length of time. However it is often found that when we regularly meditate we become much more productive.

This is because we become more present in each moment and therefore more efficient. It can then happen that you begin completing your tasks much earlier than expected and find you have more spare time.

The best time I recommend to mediate is in the morning. This is because, if you sit to meditate first thing in the morning, then it will benefit your whole day and help your mind to be clearer and therefore more productive.

If you really struggle with the morning then the next best time would be before bed, for this time, set aside 20 minutes before you go to bed to meditate and you’ll find you sleep much deeper.

20 minutes is the optimal time to start with, however you can adapt this and build up. If you do struggle, start with 5 mins and build by 5mins a week until you get to 20 minutes.

When you are comfortable and if it feels right for you, you can then do both first thing in the morning and last thing at night for optimal results.

As with any new habit; stick to the same time each day if you can and this will help to form the habit much more easily.

Also remember your reasons why and all the benefits you will gain from taking the time to meditate daily.

Benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving productivity and efficiency and many more give you lots of reasons to stick to this life changing and life improving habit. πŸ™πŸ’•πŸ™

How to Manage Overwhelm

Experiencing overwhelm and anxiety has become much more common, but how can we best cope with this when this comes up?

In learning how to manage overwhelm and anxiety often simple strategies work best. The following two are what I recommend most of all;

  1. Get out in to nature; whenever you feel overwhelmed or anxious just stepping out in to nature and taking a walk or just spending some peaceful time in a local park can really help you feel centred again.
  2. The power of one; break things down and focus on one thing at a time, this can really help ease the overwhelm and allow you to focus with much more clarity again. Once you have done that one thing Whether it be to go for a walk or do that first item on your to do list, you will find your momentum will return.

To Gym or not to Gym

With online and home workouts having become more popular since the Pandemic, what actually is the best way to workout, is it to Gym or not to Gym.

For sure you can have great workouts without the gym but keeping good form is essential therefore it is advisable to have a trainer and/or good guidance when you’re following an at home workout plan.

Some of the benefits of not using a gym are;

β€’ Convenience-(saving time)

β€’Easily accessible

β€’ Healthier-(especially if outdoors)

And of the gym;

β€’ More sociable

β€’ Can be more motivational

β€’ More options and advice

Both ways have advantages and disadvantages and it really depends on what works best for you. The most important thing is that you do exercise and that it’s effective and constructive.

If you need any further support and advice on how you can exercise at home, please do get in touch via the form below.
