~ M. L Adams

Presence is so simple we often miss it. Always remember it’s importance, remember the gift of life is all in the presence. It is here that we see all and can be all we can be. Drop all else as unnecessary 🙏💕

3 Ways of Mindfulness Practice

Practicing Mindfulness allows us to bring awareness and presence to the daily activities and make the daily things we do naturally more beautiful and enriching.

The main practices I have learnt and practice are;

  1. Mindful eating; being completely present whilst preparing and eating food. Offering gratitude and being mindful about all the effort that has gone in to the food and where it has come from.
  2. Mindful walking; being completely present with each footstep, feeling each foot as it touches the earth.
  3. Meditation; setting a time daily to focus purely on each in and out breath, allowing the breath to come and go naturally. Affirmations can also be used to help focus the mind.

Practiced Daily these Mindfulness practices are transformative and are the main ones recommended by @plumvillage teachings.

Give them a try and see the difference it can make to your life to experience each moment deeply. 🙏💗

5 Benefits of Regular Meditation

Meditation has become more popular in recent years but it can initially prove a difficult practice to take up.

Like any new practice it takes patience and discipline to start to experience the benefits, but just what are these benefits we can experience from a regular meditation practice?

To help you get started and motivated for your practice I’ve outlined the top 5 benefits below that you can gain from a regular meditation practice.

  1. Stress relief; with a regular daily meditation practice, stress levels reduce and with this many health benefits come from reducing the cortisol levels in your body.
  2. Clearer mind; with regular meditation you will start to notice that your mind becomes far clearer as you develop the ability to observe and detach from your thoughts.
  3. Better control of your mind; As through mediation you learn to observe and detatch from your thoughts this leads you to becoming more in control of your mind and actions as you are able to respond rather than react.
  4. More efficient use of time; Through regular meditation you will also become more present and less easily distracted. This leads you to being far more productive and efficient with your time.
  5. Happiness; By becoming more present, efficient, clear, in control of your mind and having less stress you will naturally become happier. This is our innate state when we are more present, it just gets covered by all the old thoughts and habits that have accumulated in the mind. Through regular meditation this all drops off and you’re left with your natural true happy state 🙂

The Paradox of Goal-Setting

journey not destinationDo you ever get frustrated at not achieving your goals as quickly as you would like?

I know I have been guilty of this and then I have to remind myself that its not about the destination but it is about the journey.  The pure act of setting goals can make it easy to forget this and to continually focus on the future of where we want to be, but if we do this for too long we can lose touch with who we are and where we are now. This is important because happiness is in the NOW not in the future.

If we approach our goals in a way of being purely focused on getting there, then we lose all the joy of the journey and often make it harder for ourselves to get there as well. Relating this to exercise I always think of the famous Bruce Lee saying of ‘Dont think Feel.’ When you go in to the feeling place you become in the moment and one with that journey you are on. You are still growing and moving forward but you are enjoying it much more than if you are constantly thinking about what you are doing and where you are going. Perhaps why it is so much easier when we have an instructor there telling us what to do;)Dtf 1

But ultimately when you are only focused on the end result of your exercise effort or of any other goal you will not enjoy the journey.  The reason that happiness and success are about the journey and not the destination is because this is where the growth happens and where we learn the most, if we do not focus on the moment we are in, we miss out on all of this.

Be happy in the now but seek to grow as a person.’

Accept yourself as and where you are with love, but seek to grow out of self- love also as a desire to grow and give more. Self- love is an important factor, if you are rejecting who and where you are now, you are ultimately rejecting yourself, this is not good of course and not the idea of goal setting. Also we all need to love ourselves, in the healthy sense of course:)

Enjoy being who you are and the PROCESS of becoming who you want to be.

You will get there and you wont even notice because you’ll be too busy being yourself and enjoying the moment you are in and as a result of your journey of being and becoming, you can go far beyond the results of what you originally imagined.

Priceless Gifts

blessings

Take time to think of all the small things you have to be grateful for about your health everyday. It may seem small at first but it will be very significant- such as being able to breathe clearly, being free from aches & pains or having full use of any one of your senses.

All of these are so vital to our vitality and can so easily be taken for granted if not consciously thought about. These can be seemingly small parts of our health but are priceless gifts and when we take time to be grateful for them we can realise how much so.

Our health is exceedingly valuable and we should not need to lose any part of it to realise how much so.

If any part of your health is not so good try focusing your mind on that which is still good and focus your gratitude on these parts of your health.

It is easy to become absorbed in difficulties if we have them, but when we consciously focus on the health that we do have, we realise that we have many beautiful gifts, treasure these.

The most beautiful and important parts of our lives do not have a price tag, practicing gratitude daily helps us to realise this and appreciate these gifts of real value.
